Music Interests

I have many musical interests, both from a listener's perspective and as a performer. I like many musical forms, including classical, folk and traditional, Celtic, rock, big band, bluegrass and old time, and many others too numerous to list. I am a tenor (though really more of a baritone) in the Unisingers choral group of the Unitarian Church of Harrisburg. This group has performed all over the mid-state, including Lancaster, York, Allentown, Northumberland, and City Island in Harrisburg.

My main instrument is the guitar, of which I have a 1992 Martin D-35, a 1978 Epiphone, a 1968 Gibson B25-12 (12-string), and a Yamaha travel guitar. There is also a Brazilian classical guitar in the household (my wife's, which I play when she isn't looking). I also play the octave mandolin (aka bouzouki), dabble at the bodhran (Irish frame drum), can find my way around a piano, and can play a few tunes on the pennywhistle.

I play with the Arcona Reel Band. I have played regularly at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire, both as part of this group and as one-half of the Clannamore duo (the other half being my wife Alanna on hammered dulcimer). Both groups specialize in American traditional and Celtic music. Clannamore's recent venues, in addition to the Faire, include Lancaster Malt Brewing in Lancaster, Bube's Brewery in Mt. Joy, Encore Books in Mechanicsburg, Lancaster First Night celebration, and the Cornerstone Coffeehouse in Camp Hill. Check the web sites above for descriptions of our recordings and for current schedules of where we will be playing.
