Remembrances for September 11, 2001

Below you will find links to many free charts as well as some that aren't entirely free (you should make a donation or be stitching a donation). For patriotic or other memorial charts that aren't mostly free, check with your LNS (local needlework shop) or Hoffman's Distributors.

Remember that even with free charts, the designer retains the copyright. If you plan to make a bunch of these and sell them, you should contact the designer to make sure that is okay.

If you have trouble downloading or seeing a chart, contact the web site owner of the design. But first, 1) try again or 2) reload the page. Some sites go down periodically. I am not responsible for any sites other than my own.

I recently wandered through the Caron Collection's September 11th tribute pages. They have many wonderful charts shown including some of the ones listed here.

Sue Heal maintains a wonderful freebie list. That link is to her USA theme.

Remember that I am a person rather than a shop. This page was intended as a service when designs were first needed.

• Donna Vermillion Giampa eagle and flag. There is a machine embroidery design here as well.
• Douglas Designs 'Old Glory' Note that the Douglas Designs domain name ends in .net rather than .com (www.douglas-designs.net).
• Eterna Silk chart varies. When I last checked, it was 'An American Christmas' designed by Jennifer Cooke-Rabig, Ladybug Lane Designs. A link to the earlier 'Harmony' by Jan Eaton of Tom Pudding Designs designed for September 11 is at the bottom of the page.
• HerHobbies 'In Loving Memory'

• Nostalgia Needlework 'Blackwork Humanity Chart' is Teresa's elegant blackwork rendering of the 'Prayer of St. Francis'. Site also has Leon Conrad's free design called Memorial Crosses featuring blackwork, crossstitch, and beads.
• Pam Kellogg I didn't see 'They Will Soar On Wings Like Eagles' is in the Designs section when I last looked, but there are other patriotic freebies there.
• Patriotic Crafts for Kids has a lot of ideas
• Puddin Designs 'Forever In Our Hearts'
• Richard Seekins Designs 'An American Flag' and an 'American Shield' don't seem to be on the web site anymore, but perhaps you could ask. He also has patriotic Christmas ornament charts available at your LNS. You can view those at the web site as well.

Fourth of July Fireworks

As I sat in the den talking to the LNS-owner on the phone, I realized that my free flower lattice chart had a red, white, and blue model. I'm seeing how it works over two on 28 count navy Jobelan. The model shown is rather large. I also have a free remembrance chart requested a few years ago by Arlene. It is easy to stitch and states "We live as long as we are remembered." And I have a chart for how I stitched 2001.9.11 onto my nametag. It's a plain text chart here.

Memorial Projects

With the World Trade Center Memorial Quilt, stitchers stitch a quilt square on evenweave (not linen or Aida). The results will be stitched into a huge quilt.

Quilts, Inc. is sponsoring a traveling America: From The Heart exhibit of memorial quilts is touring the United States and Europe.

And finally, someone asked about Memorial Bracelets similar to the Vietnam POW/MIA metal bracelets. I have no affliation with this group and this is not an endorsement.
