This page is intended to be a guide to the local needlework stores. For various reasons, a lot of people ask about this. I apologize if anyone is left out. Contact me Beth Katz, katz@cs.millersville.edu and I'll include your store.

The Stores

I apologize if I've misrepresented the emphasis of your store. These are my perceptions of what I'll find at each. There are also at least two Joanne's Fabrics (Parkview Plaza across from Park City and Kendig Square in Willow Street). Sadly, we've lost five needlework stores in Lancaster County since I moved here in 1992. Knitting stores include Oh Susannah at Marietta Pike and Rohrerstown Road (just south of Rt. 30 about at the d of Centerville Road on the map) and Legacy Yarns near Kendig Square in Willow Street (south of Lancaster) as well as Kit Nit noted below.
Stitches Unlimited (717-560-9416)
On Oregon Pike (Rt. 272) two miles north of Route 30 in the Olde Hickory Shoppes. This shop specializes in painted needlepoint canvases and crossstitch. There are some Amish themed canvases as well as a series of holiday-themed angels. Hours as of April 30, 2008 when I called are MTF 12-4, W 12-8, Sat 10-2. Not open Thursday or Sunday. The shop is a couple doors down from the KitNit (717-569-3951) which specializes in knitting supplies. They are in the bend of the shopping center.
A.C. Moore
In the Lancaster Shopping Center between Lititz and Oregon Pikes in the old Service Merchandise space. Craft store that also carries stitching supplies. I get stretcher bars here as well as inexpensive DMC floss. They also carry some L&L charts, Bucilla fabrics, some Caron threads, and Mill Hill beads. You can get quilting supplies too.
Michaels
In the Lancaster Shopping Center between Lititz and Oregon Pikes in the old A.C. Moore space. Various craft supplies.
