RSS - Real Simple Syndication

Wikipedia's RSS entry lists these features:

• publish frequently updated work (blogs, news, audio, …)
• publishers syndicate content automatically
• readers can see timely updates in one place
• no need to visit multiple sites checking for updates
• usually headlines and summaries
• URL will end in XML
• find potential feeds by searching for 'whatever rss'

Can subscribe in many ways - choose what works for you

• Mac Mail (more on RSS in Mac Mail)
• Safari, Firefox, or other web browser (more on RSS in web browsers)
• RSS reader program such as Newsfire or Vienna (more on RSS in NewsFire)
• Google Reader is another option we didn't discuss
  They have a tutorial video, and it looks very handy.

Use Mail or Safari to set preferred reader:    app / Preferences / RSS

For the iPad (and iPhone), you can use each source's app or a newsfeed reader. Beth is exploring FLUD and Feeddler
