Beth Katz's AuroraFeed Widgit

This is the first version of my AuroraFeed widgit for Mac OS X. You must have Tiger (OS X 10.4) installed. I wrote it carefully, but it's my first widgit and I don't have a lot of experience with Javascript or CSS. It only hits the Solar Terrestrial Dispatch server every few minutes. I asked for and received permission to do so. Please let me know if you have problems with it, but I don't have time right now to clean it up. I'm releasing it now because we're having some activity where it may be useful.

It is not a polished app.

Download the AuroraFeed widgit (56 KB) (updated September 11, 2005)

This widgit displays the current universal time and date and one of twelve graphs of space weather activity obtained from Solar Terrestrial Dispatch (http://www.spacew.com/). Choose your favorite graph to display. You can have multiple instances of the widgit displaying, but the most recent setting is the one that will be stored. In other words, only one "default" is stored. Be polite and don't have all twelve showing. The graphs are updated every few minutes. During a storm, the STD server may get very busy.

It works like other widgits in that you click the little i at lower right (it will appear) to flip the card and get to the settings.

Please let me know if you have ideas for making this better. This is a first cut, and I made it primarily to learn how widgits work as well as to determine whether I could grab the STD feeds.
